Is this POD (Print on Demand)? Do I have to pay more to get my books?
I’m using DriveThruRPG’s Print-on-Demand service to print the books, but you will not have to pay more to get them! Your pledge+shipping covers the cost of the book and shipping it to you.
I chose DTRPG in part because they have printers outside the US who can ship the book to you for less than I can from here in the US.

What do you mean "premium color"?
DriveThruRPG offers two color options: Standard Color Heavyweight and Premium Color. We will be using the Premium Color option for the Threadbare books to offer you the highest value we can.

Shipping seems.... low for international orders. Is that right?
Shipping costs are based on DriveThruRPG’s print-on-demand service, which will ship directly from the printer (sometimes located in that country), reducing the delivery costs.
For levels where the product needs to go first to be signed, you’ll see the shipping costs go way up! That’s because of the cost to ship the product internationally from my home (where I sign it) in Las Vegas, Nevada to yours, wherever in the world you might be.
So, yes. The shipping costs are correct. Enjoy.

If it's combat-light, why do all the characters in the pictures have weapons?
I started writing Threadbare about 4 years ago. At the time, it was a much more traditional role playing game, and it had combat at the forefront. I put up a few hundred bucks to hire an artist (Emily Block), who did the preliminary artwork you see in the Kickstarter page and in the playtest materials.
Over the course of the intervening 4 years, I have worked on Threadbare and playtested it a lot. I’ve learned a lot as a game designer as well– Threadbare was the 2nd game I ever made, after all. And over time, I realized this is not a game about harming people. It’s a game about fixing and making stuff. It’s about building things– devices as well as connections between characters.
One of the “core things” covered by the initial funding goal is new, updated artwork, this time by Eric Quigley. Emily isn’t available now, though she wishes the project well! So you can definitely expect new, less combat-oriented art in the final book.

What kind of yarn is used in the socks?
I generally knit with wool or wool-nylon blends, but I’m willing to use a different fiber if you prefer for allergy, health, or animal-rights reasons.
This won’t be crummy yarn, though. I don’t like to knit with cheaply-made yarn, so you’re looking at something at a Malabrigo level of niceness. I do try to make sure my socks are machine washable, though, so if you have a special request for yarn, be aware that not all superwash yarns are truly machine-safe (and some are fine in the washer, but really should not go in the dryer.)
If you’d like to see some of my knitting, I have a Ravelry profile: http://www.ravelry.com/people/mortaine

HELP! My copy has badly trimmed pages, and I just noticed!
There was a printing error with the first run of color softcover books that went out in August 2017. Unfortunately, many (maybe all) of the copies had the page numbers cut off, especially towards the back of the book. At the time, we handled it by collecting photos and order numbers from everyone, and sent them in for a refund and a discount coupon so backers could replace the book from DriveThruRPG. The process took several months to complete, but is now done.
If you didn’t get in on that initial refund, however, you can contact DriveThruRPG directly to ask for the refund/replacement. Go to https://support.drivethrurpg.com/hc/en-us/requests/new to submit the request. If you have your initial order number, please include it. Otherwise, please include your email address as you have it set in Kickstarter, since that’s how they’ll best be able to look you up in the system.
If you have trouble getting things sorted out with DriveThruRPG, please let me know and I’ll help find your order information and hopefully help get you sorted out.

Last Updated At: 02/24/18 | See Kickstarter UpdateWhat is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
