"Plushie or plastic, mate?" In Threadbare RPG, you play a jury-rigged toy in a broken, stitched-together world.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Edited and in Layout!

Updates!

ALL of the text is 100% in and edited!

We are looking at about 2 weeks for layout and final touches, then it's off to the presses! The turnaround time from submitting until you get print copies varies-- it may be a few days or a week or so. Signed copies will take longer, as they have to come to me first before they get sent out to you.

Got Typos?

Backers at the $9 and up level will get an email with a link to the not-layed-out version shortly.

If you spot typos or errors, please email them to me using the email in the footer of every page of the PDF. Please include "Threadbare 3.3" in the subject line and refer to the PDF's pages so I can find what you're talking about.

This is also your last chance to get your name in the printed book!

If you haven't replied to the Kickstarter survey, do so now!

Also: if you haven't logged into Backerkit yet, head on over and answer your survey!

Gen Con Event Registration opens May 28th

There are 2 sessions of Threadbare at Gen Con, sponsored by the IGDN-- Thursday at 10 AM and Saturday at 6 PM. Event registration opens on May 28th-- you'll need a badge in advance in order to register.

LAST DAY! To get your name in the Backer Credits!
almost 7 years ago – Fri, May 12, 2017 at 06:05:13 PM

A quick reminder that today is the last day to fill out your Kickstarter Survey if you want to have your name in the print copy of the books!

Just come to Kickstarter, login, and look at the top of the page. You'll have a reminder to fill in your survey for Threadbare. Fill it in, and voila! I'll have your information and can send it to layout!

Thanks-- there are about a dozen or so of you who haven't filled that out yet, and I don't want you to miss out on seeing your name in glorious print!

Backerkit, Layout, and More

Update

All of the stretch goals are in, edited, and heading to layout! This is exciting news!

My stuff.... you know, this would be easier if you all hadn't done such a wonderful job of giving me a stretch goal to add upgrades and devices and glitches (oh, my!) That's what I've been stuck on, so if you want to throw ideas around in the comments, I will gladly take your suggestions and flesh some of them out for the game. I kind of tapped out creatively on those and would not mind some inspiration.

If you're wondering what I mean, here's a preview of the catapult, perhaps one of the earliest Device concepts I had for Threadbare (the layout isn't how it will look.... see below for that!)

Catapult!
Catapult!

A playtest at International Tabletop Day also revealed a weakness between the softie move Bossy and one of the rewritten basic moves, so I'm making a late change there, too.

We're now looking at an end-of-May date for sending files to the printer. I know that's a little later than anticipated. Since I was late getting Backerkit set up, I wanted to give you all plenty of time to fill out those surveys before locking it down on May 30th.

Which brings me to...

Backerkit is Live!

If you haven't already done so, please hop on over to Backerkit and fill in your survey! You should have an email invitation or, if you have backed more than one project that's using Backerkit, head over to the "master backer account" and scroll down till you find Threadbare.

And as a reminder: if any of your friends or fellow gamers want to pre-order Threadbare, they can do so on Backerkit as well!

Fill in your Kickstarter Surveys

If you haven't already, please fill in your Kickstarter surveys! It redundantly asks for your address, which you'll also need to put into Backerkit-- sorry about that, but there was no way to tell Kickstarter I don't need addresses. The only information I really need on the Kickstarter survey is the name you want listed in the credits. Last day for that is next Friday, May 12.

Lovely Layout

I wanted to share with you the utterly beautiful job Bill is doing with our layout!

 Isn't it lovely?

Upcoming Conventions

Convention season has begun! I am running Threadbare at Gamex in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, May 27. I'll be running the Boogie Shoes adventure that was a stretch goal. If you are in LA that weekend, it's a great convention, and you should totally come play.

As I mentioned before, there will be a couple of sessions of Threadbare at GenCon 50 this year. I don't know when they are-- the GenCon event registration goes live on May 28th, and I think they're still working on the online catalog. But there will be games!

Are you running Threadbare at an upcoming convention? Let me know, or post it in the comments for your fellow backers!

April Update! Surveys!
almost 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 06, 2017 at 03:55:00 PM

Kickstarter Surveys are Here!

The Kickstarter survey is now LIVE!

In it, I ask you to provide your name as you want it to appear in the credits for this project.

Please answer the survey by April 30th so we can get your name into the credits section of the book. If you miss the print deadline, you can still answer the survey late, but you'll miss getting into the print book and will only be in the PDF.

Backerkit Surveys are Coming!

I'm sending the Backerkit surveys out in the next few days!

I'll be setting a lock-down date of May 15th for the Backerkit surveys, so you have about 5 weeks to decide on any add-ons or tell your friends they can pre-order the game!

Backerkit is optional, but it greatly helps me manage the orders. However, if you are dead set against using it, please message me privately and I will manually process your pledge.

You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link when it comes to your email inbox, fill it out, and you’re all good to go! You can answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more “add-ons” if you'd like. If you decide later that you want to edit your survey response, you can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys for processing.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you will be able to recover your survey here. If you use your Facebook login for your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey will be sent to the email you used for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you would prefer to use, you can contact support at https://threadbare-rpg.backerkit.com/faq and we'll get you sorted out!

Current Schedule: On Track for May

Our current schedule has us editing and revising this month, while layout progresses. We have a drop-dead date of May 15th as well (it's going to be a busy day around here!) to ship by end of May (as mentioned in the January update).

March Update
about 7 years ago – Tue, Mar 21, 2017 at 07:32:09 PM

Sorry this update is late going out, folks!

Scheduling Pow Wow

Vivian (the editor) and I had a scheduling pow-wow earlier this month and figured out what we can do to hit that May shipping deadline. It'll be close, but I am hopeful that we will make it. I'm sending all the unedited text to the layout editor for preliminary layout this week. As I mentioned last month, I've been the main holdup, but I have been plugging away, and we're now at the "wrap up some details" stage of the main text. Most of the artwork is in, and all the stretch goals contributions are in.

Breakout Con!

Eric P. ran Threadbare at Breakout in Toronto 2 weeks ago and it went great! I heard some great stories from the players, and it sounds like a blast.

Alas, poor sock! So many holds from trying to "help someone!"

GenCon 50: Contessa Wants GMs

The Contessa GM block is looking for GMs (women, PoC, non-binary, and/or queer) and volunteers (everybody) for Gen Con 50! The "bite sized" time slot needs GMs on Thursday-- each time slot is 2 hours long, and the Threadbare starter adventure Furry Road easily fits into that time. You know I'd love to have more sessions of Threadbare at GenCon, and Contessa's a good organization that really helps diversify gaming!

Volunteer for 10 hours and earn a free badge! Deadline is March 26th to sign up as a GM.
